Coping Skills in Children

چکیده

Pain management is a significant challenge for both families and physicians following major orthopaedic surgery in children. A variety of psychosocial factors have all been documented to affect post-operative pain, including anxiety, catastrophizing self-efficacy. Unfortunately, interventions attempting address these different variables limited across pediatric orthopaedics. In this article we review the constructs that impact child’s ability manage pain while recovering from surgery. Additionally, will highlight some promising coping skills resilience date as well what ‘ideal’ intervention might encompass. By familiarizing our colleagues with evidence behind each concepts, hope improve surgeon confidence managing issues catalyze efforts aimed at addressing important knowledge gap.
